The Wonder Wifey

You are wonderful, don't ever forget that.

How I found my soulmate

A twist of fate, a choice of destiny. No communication, no sight of each other for 10 years. Who would think I’d end up marrying my grade 6 classmate?

This is the lesson I learned after my grade 6 classmate became my husband recently. A  lot of people had been asking me how I met my husband. I always tell them that he’s my grade 6 classmate, but here’s the twist, none of us originally had a crush on the other and we weren’t high school sweethearts either.

It was July 2015 when he contacted me again for our class reunion. I had doubts at first since I was our section’s only girl but their house was somewhat near ours so I went to our reunion. He didn’t show any signs nor make any moves at first. But later on he continued texting me and asked to fetch me from school. It reallyyyy felt so awkward at first since he’s not known as a guy who’d court someone. He’s also known as some kind of a playboy, just happy go lucky and not taking anything seriously.

I used all possible reasons I could use to avoid him at first since it still felt awkward being with him.

But I believe that God has a plan, He gave me the right person and all I had to do was to realize he’s the one. Among all the people I could meet God gave me someone who knew me 10 years ago and now made his way to my heart.

Easy Malunggay and Egg soup recipe

Malunggay is one of the healthiest and cheapest vegetable available with more vitamin C from oranges, more Calcim than milk, more vitamin A than carrots and a lot more.  What I also like most about Malunggay is that you can easily find it around your neighborhood and it’s easy to plant. Malunggay also costs only P5 per bundle making it an affordable ingredient for everyday meals.

I don’t have much experience in cooking but I wanted to have a malunggay soup so I asked my mom how to make this malunggay soup with ingredients we can easily find.

Malunggay and egg recipe ingredients:

  • 2 cups malunggay leaves
  • water
  • onion
  • 2 eggs
  • knorr chicken cube
  • salt

Procedure:

  1. Boil 2-3 cups of water along with the knorr chicken cube (as a seasoning) and chopped onion.
  2. Wait for the water to boil
  3. Put the malunggay leaves
  4. Put the eggs
  5. Add salt

This serving is good for 2 – 3 persons.

Ps. This is also a good recipe for lactating and pregnant women like me since Malunggay is known to help boost breast milk production 🙂

Using the LRT courtesy lane as a pregnant woman..

I learned a lot of things due to my experiences during pregnancy. Nausea, vomiting, headache, and heartburn are just some of the few things I experienced, and all these discomfort and pain taught me to be humble. Everyone has their own struggles we might not understand so I thought that it’s just best to be kind.

But.. pregnancy also taught me that not everyone understands how hard it is to be pregnant or to be someone who needs to be in a courtesy lane. Most of my experiences were from riding the LRT..

I’m always a tall and thin girl and my bump only became noticeable during my 5th month. This made people shoo me away whenever they see me in the courtesy lane. My ultrasound report and baby book are the only evidences I have, which I always had to bring.

But, does my small tummy make my need for the courtesy lane less? No. Just to give you an idea, I felt very weak, I vomit 4 to 5x a day.

The sad thing is, those who made me feel like I don’t belong to the courtesy lane are the senior citizens. I don’t have anything against them and I was never mad about their behavior but I’d admit that it’s sad.

There was a time when a senior citizen beside me whispered “PANG SENIOR LANG DITO” Then I’ll have to explain that I’m pregnant.

Having someone whisper directly to your ear that you don’t deserve your seat is still better than this other experience I had when there were seniors who were giving me bad stares and pointing at my direction. I just rub my belly and they stop.

The first time I had to stand up on a train, I was 3 months pregnant when I had to ride the LRT, I’m from Recto station. It felt like there wasn’t enough air to breathe. I tried so hard to calm myself though I felt like going out the train in cubao station. I almost blacked out. At Anonas station, everything went black and the sounds I hear were slowly fading. The ladies seated in front of me noticed me and immediately gave me their seats.

I just smile even when  people are rude. I just think that they might have no idea of what I’m feeling.

I’m sharing my experiences hoping that we could spread kindness and understanding. Some senior citizens may be weak or experiencing pain too and the best thing we could do is be kind.

Tips in getting NBI Clearance fast and easy

I’ve been getting NBI clearance since I had my first job since it’s one of the fastest documents you can get in a day and it counts as a valid id since it has a picture, date of birth and signature on it.

So here are some tips I learned for years of applying for an NBI clearance:

1. Best time

The best time to go to NBI is around 2 – 3 pm. I know that when it comes to government offices people would always advice you to come early but that’s also the time when most people arrive. I usually go NBI at around 2pm and it took me more or less an hour to get my NBI clearance.

The last time, I arrived past 3pm and it didn’t even take 30 mins to get my NBI clearance!

2. Special lane

NBI also gives priority to Senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with disability. The problem is that there is only a notice written but not an actual lane for seniors, pregnant or PWD.

So, If you’re one of these people just go directly to their counters and inform them that you’re pregnant, senior or pwd.

I am 35 weeks pregnant the last time I went to apply for an NBI clearance and I was advised by the NBI personnel to go directly to their counters. It’s just hard having big belly and having to fall in line lol.

How to Update name and civil status on NBI clearance

If you just got married and in need of a valid id then an NBI clearance is one of the fastest and easiest document you can get that counts as a valid id.

Just go to the NBI website nbi-clearance.com

If you already have an NBI Clearance before you just have to log in to your account > Edit profile – just edit your civil status to married and enter your husband’s last name > click on New application.

Aaaaand that’s it! Just choose your preferred schedule and payment method and you could already have your NBI clearance valid for 1 year.

In my case, I had to get my NBI clearance after 2 weeks since it’s a “New application”. “Renewed applications” can be claimed immediately on the date of application.

Filing Maternity notification (Mat 1) at SSS Antipolo branch

I am already 35 weeks pregnant and I’m just about to file my MAT 1 or maternity notification at SSS Antipolo branch. I had to fie it at an SSS office since I left my job during my 3rd month of pregnancy. I had no idea about the best time to go to an SSS office,  I tried to look for blogs and unfortunately found none so I’m gonna share my experience.

Note: For employed members, maternity notification or MAT 1 is filed directly to your employer.

The first time we went there was on an afternoon and we were advised that it was past their cutoff and that the queue starts by 6:30 am.

The next morning we were already at the SSS  Antipolo branch by 4:30 am! There are no chairs or benches and you just have to stand outside and wait for their office to open. By 6:30am they started letting people in and they gave us queue numbers. We we’re the 5th in line for maternity notification. Although we were already seated they started accepting concerns by 8am!

Anyway, I was able to file my maternity notification and had no bad experience with their employees. Filing Maternity notification of MAT 1 can only be done at SSS offices but applying for the SSS UMID and updating your records can be done at other SSS helpdesks like in some Robinson’s branches (Robinson’s Place Antipolo accepts UMID application and updating members records but does not accept payments.) I highly suggest going to an actual SSS office for filing your maternity notification and do other transactions at SSS helpdesks to avoid the hassle.
